hello. I think we should have the ability to delete bored posts that we don't want anymore. like for instance, we screw up coding an html link, or we put something we don't mean. I think that would be a good feature. thank you.
I would like to see this feature also.
I think it could be implemented in two ways.
First, if you have posted a post to a topic, and no one has posted after you, then you should be able to delete that post. Once someone has posted after you, then it would screw up things to delete a post.
Secondly, I would love for us to have the ability to delete topics we have created.
For example, suppose I create a topic calling for the execution of all blind people, then I go blind, I might wish to delete this topic lest it come back to haunt me--so to speak.
Anyway, I agree with your suggestion.
Bob
I don't agree, if people can't be bothered to preview a post where they may not get coding correct, then they deserve to be laughed at. and while we may create topics, they have been created for people to share their views, so though we may wish to avoid a topic coming back to haunt us, why should we have the right to remove the feelings of others as well?
The only thing I'd like to see, is the ability to lock a topic we create if we decide it's run it's course, and then noone could reserect it years later.
well i'm glad at least someone agrees with me. like they say, shit happens. yes, you can preview your posts but what if you still want to delete it? and i like the idea of deleting whole topics. there are numbers of topics i have created i'd like to see gone.
why, it helps us remember how much of an ass hole we used to be. lol. me included.
Maybe
I think, until someone else has posted, you should be able to delete your own post. In the case of html it's kind of hit and miss whether the preview feature will work right.
I do like the idea of being able to lock a topic you created.
It's okay to show off your ass occasionally, but it isn't right for people to keep bringing it up to the top.
Bob
I think it's a good idea if we delete something that we didn't mean or topics that we have already created. It sounds cool.
I'm in agreement with Kev here. And what if whatever the topic you created is actually something useful such as a bit of information that someone can later use? I know of a few users who have stumbled upon this site due to their googling something and finding what they were looking for here. Also, it makes people think about what they post if they know that what they have written can not be undone. I guess this also ties in to the first point. Whatever you say under your user name can be found on here through google or any search engine.
I should think the Admins by now would have made it to where if a board that someone created goes so far back it'd be deleted but seeing as things remain everything is still tucked away in every nook and cranny of this website. Think of how much space would be gained from doing this and how alot nicer it would look.
If you wish to keep a board alice add a "Bump Button" a feature which allows you to bump a board to the top, also this way you wouldn't have to post to it like done now to make it go up tot he top.
I don't think we should be able to edit the posts though whatever you have writtin is in stone so I like it the way it is other than that.
I'd like to lock topics after a certain period of time, say 6 months, I, personally, get rather irritated if some genius goes through an entire board, puts "I agree" or "lol" in a post and bumps all topics in that board back to the top.
That might not happen because fi you post something bad and a user seen it. They want beable to tell the CL or admin that's why. Why would you want to delete?
Change mind I do wish we can delete posts we made.
then, why, on other forums I've seen can you delete topics, whole topics you've created, if we use the logic that we are all responcible adults then why do they not have us keep them around so we can see what assholes we've been. if you create, someone posts to it, and if you were the one to create that topic, then you should be able to delete it with the posts with it. that is how it works in other forums and then it will reflect in the post count. sure, we may be responcible, but, if someone posts something, then months later it isn't relative, or it is out of date, then we should be allowed to delete our own topics we've created, even with the other board posts in it.
I like the austin's suggestion. I thin that we should be able to delete our posts, if we mess up. Also, I like the idea of being able to delete our posts if no one responds to it, then we should just be able to delete the topic entirely. The only reason I could see this messing with is our number of posts. Would it change, or would it stay the same once we delete something.
I agree. I accidentally posted something to the wrong board the other day and wanted to delete it but had to write to the mods about it. Deleting posts would be a good thing. If they were really concerned about things like safety or people trying to get away with harassment etc, maybe they could find a way to log the posts for themselves but not show them to us. Just a thought. Also, the bump idea is cool, but I think it should have a limit. Perhaps, one person could only bump a particular topic twice in a week. That way, the right won't be abused.
